This page looks at the Maserati Bora,
This was Maserati’s response to the success of the success of the mid-engined Lamborghini Miura.
The Bora was built from 1971 to 1978 and it came in two engine sizes:
- 4.7 litre V8 was made throughout the period with 289 cars produced.
- 4.9 litre V8 was made from 1974 to 1978 and in total 275 cars were produced.
The good looking car was again designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign and it provided remarkably practical for a mid-engined supercar. It was first shown at Geneva in 1971.
The dimensions are:
- Length 4,335 mm (170.7 in)
- Width 1,768 mm (69.6 in)
- Height 1,134 mm (44.6 in)
- Wheelbase 2,600 mm (102.4 in)
- Curb weight 1,830 kg (4,034 lb)
A series of still photographs turned into a short video.
James May did a very complimentary film about the Bora on Top Gear. Unfortunately I can’t find a copy of it to present here but he argued that it was a 70s supercar that you could still use every day.
