The mid-engined, rear wheel drive Ferrari 348 is the replacement for the Ferrari 328. It was launched in 1989 and continued in production until 1995 when it was replaced by the Ferrari F355.
It came in two forms, the 348 tb for the coupé and the 348 ts for the convertible.
Unlike the move from the 308 to the 328, this was a bigger change in the “small Ferrari”.
It has a normally aspirated, enlarged (3.4-litre) version of the quad-cam, four-valve-per-cylinder V8 engine originally used in the Ferrari 288 GTO sports car. This produced 300 hp (224 kW) compared with the 400 hp (298 kW) in the turbocharged GTO.
It’s styling echoed the big Ferrari of the time, the Testarossa with the multiple side air intakes.
